Over the course of the year students, participate in numerous sporting events. The Harvey Senior High School hold an Aqua Spectacular, where all students are involved in a day of competitive swimming and novelty events. An annual Athletics Carnival is run for all students and upper School students have the opportunity to compete in Country Week.
The School also participates in the Lightning and Winter Carnivals for Years 7-10s, where students are able to choose in a range of sporting events.
This year the Harvey Senior High School introduced the new Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation. This qualification provides the knowledge and skills for a student to be competent in performing core skills in outdoor recreation environments and assisting with the conduct of a range of outdoor activities. Students are able to complete a VET course on campus and complete a Certificate II which is required to graduate. Students have been involved in Bushwalking, Snorkelling, Camp Cooking and Mountain Bike Riding.
Elite Sports Program:
The Elite Sports Program at Harvey Senior High School is a prestigious and exclusive program aimed at extending the school’s talented Physical Education students. It is a program that is largely focused on developing leadership skills and knowledge within various sporting contexts that will extend into Senior School as well as the students’ local community. The program has been developed to help maximise the potential of talented students in the areas of sport and sport science. Students are able to nominate for the course in Year 9 or 10. However it is recommended that those students who select the course in Year 9 continue into Year 10. There are pre requisites and other conditions for student entry into this program.
