This term the Year 7 students have been learning about the relationships between the Earth, the Sun and the Moon. To finish off their studies on this topic they attempted to replicate the phases of the Moon this May, by scraping cream off the inside of Oreo cookies. This was a task they were pretty enthusiastic about!
Also this term, the year 7 students were required to design and construct a working catapult, so they could demonstrate their understanding of ‘Forces and Simple Machines in Physics’.
After a long break, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we were finally able to trial them out on the oval. Using a ping pong ball (for safety reasons), the winning catapult reached a distance of 3m. There was some impressive engineering on display.
