Harvey Youth and Performance Education (HYPE) students have been exposed to more technical sports: Volleyball and Netball. Students are learning the correct techniques and positioning in both sports and how to use simple strategies and tactics to find space, exploit open areas and their increased fitness to keep the games moving fast and with intent.
Students have been pushed in continuous training, tabata sessions and resistance training. They have also learnt and incorporated various stretching techniques to improve their flexibility.
In the theory component of HYPE, the students have learnt about the nervous system and it’s involvement in developing power, stretching programs and just how many different ways and styles of stretching to improve their performance, and lastly they have learnt about recovery, injury and how to deal with it so they can self-manage themselves.
